Or share the reading so each reader is a certain person in the narrative. You can hold kids "in the palm of your hand" while reading the Bible if you read it well.

children said: This thought was eluded to in the title of the aritcle... but never really addressed. In our children's progrmming we are working hard to "clean-up" our language. It is hardier than one might think.... to refer to the lesson as the biblcal account, not as a story.. some language we are using includes, " let's open our Bible and find out what really happened". We are learing not to refer to the people in the Bible as characters as well. One thing that I have always found to be a source of confusion for the students is showing a DVD where "characters" are added to the Bible... time traveling contemporary children, or talking animals....As adults we know who the real people are... but if you are hearing the "story" for the first time, who is real and who is added? The best DVD's in my opinion stick just to the narriative or they make no bones about dressing up to reinact a biblcal event (cucumbers in clothes).
