Check your heart and your attitude before children arrive. ~Remember you are doing God's work.~ Arrive at least 30 minutes prior to start of service. Prepare the nursery, look over the curriculum and pray with the other workers. Wash your hands immediately upon entry to the nursery, after changing diapers, before snack and after wiping runny noses. You are encouraged to dress appropriate for interacting with small children (craft time, play time). Smocks are available for your use. Please wear a worker identification tag. Name tags are to be worn by EVERYONE staffing the nursery. The ratio of children to adults is 2 to 1 for non-walking babies and 3 to 1 for toddlers. (Do not take on more than you can handle.) Team leaders & co-leaders must be thoroughly familiar with proper diaper changing procedures. Older siblings of children in the Nursery are not allowed to stay in the Nursery. (Exceptions will be made for Nursery staff who have no other options.) When a child has been consistently crying for 10 minutes, the parents should be contacted. (Use discretion) We are a "well-child" facility. For the health of the other children we will not be able to accept a sick child. Children who have had a fever with the last 24 hours, cough, diarrhea, or any other symptom that may indicate contagious illness will not be allowed in the Nursery. Children are not to be removed from the Nursery for any reason except fire, earthquake, similar disaster, or evacuation drill. Cribs and playpens, blankets and sheets must be washed and/or disinfected between each use. All toys must be sprayed with disinfectant at the end of each service. If you see a child with a toy in their mouth, put it in the “Dirty Toys” bin after the child is finished playing with it. Pray with the children before each snack. Always encourage them to use "please" and "thank you".
