We can’t see the wind, but we feel it and see what it does. We can’t see the Holy Spirit, but we can see his works and feel his presence. * Kites for Seniors http://www.childrensministry.com/backissues/detail.asp?ID=509 * GO FLY A KITE As the March winds blow, host a family kite-flying event. Have families bring kites to a large field or park that’s free of trees and power lines. Families can take turns flying their kites. Serve everyone diamond-shaped cookies decorated with colored frosting and sprinkles—and don’t forget to add licorice whip kite tails to the cookies. Close with a short devotion about how the Holy Spirit can be our “wind” to pick us up so we can soar. A few kite-flying tips: • Assemble kites according to the directions, or they may not fly. • Check wind speed. Wind that’s 5 to 25 miles per hour is best for kite-flying. • Don’t fly kites in inclement weather. Rain or lightning is dangerous to kites—and kite fliers. • Never fly kites near airports, close to power lines, or over roads.

I hold an annual "Mardi Gras" party (has a Christian basis in Shrove Tuesday, held during Anglo Saxon times) complete with purple and green decorations, masks, tooters, chocolate coins, beads, and various cakes. It's an excellent lead into an in-depth lesson of what Ash Wednesday and Lent are all about. I hold an exciting Jewish Passover seder on Palm Sunday that includes the seder foods, order of service, and parents ~ because every element is so completely tied to redemption and Jesus' death and resurrection. I can't wait to use more of Ms. Kauffman's ideas! Thank you so much.
