7 Apps the Experts Use

APPSHere at Group, we're wrapping up work on our November/December issue of Children's Ministry Magazine, and I'm super excited about this issue. We've got some amazing articles planned, and today I wanted to give you a sneak peek at one of them. In the next issue of Children's Ministry Magazine, we cover 31 must-have apps that people in ministry (just like you) find worth the download.

I've pulled a few of my favorites to share with you before the issue comes out. Here are seven apps the experts use.

1.       Yancy Says…

A Beautiful Mess Super fun borders, text and graphics for pictures. It's like having Photoshop on your phone. Great way to add color and text to a picture fast so you can post on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook!

-Yancy ministers through her music in live concerts and leads worship for preteens and their families.

2.       Craig Says…

UPAD: Upad lets me open talks I've written in .pdf format and then handwrite or highlight them. I switch to 'user view' and then use my iPad to speak from. No more paper notes!

-Craig Jutila is a veteran children's minister, speaker, and author.

3.       Danielle Says…

Postagram This app lets me send a child a postcard with a picture from an event right from my phone. While eating lunch with kids at school, I snap a picture and before I'm back at my office, I've sent them an email with a pic included.

-Danielle Bell is minister to children in Birmingham, Alabama. Danielle is a keynote speaker and presenter at KidMin and a contributor to Children's Ministry Magazine.

4.       Jonathan Says…

Shoeboxed I love this app for keeping track of all the receipts from volunteer lunches, online purchases for elementary small groups, and all those runs to Sam's Club. I take a picture, email the document, and it creates easy reimbursement forms for me to get paid for those church purchases.

-Jonathan Cliff is the Next Generations ministry pastor at Trinity Church in Lubbock, Texas.

5.       Gordon Says…

Smart Receipts (Andriod only): With this app, I take a photo of receipts and code them before emailing to our accountant. Brilliant!

-Gordon West is the co-founder of KidZ At Heart International, a mission organization ministering in more than 25 countries.

6.       Les Says…

Do: This team-management app lets you assign tasks to everyone on the team and track notes and progress on tasks and assignments. It's a great tool when you work with a large team and assign lots of tasks.

-Les Christie has been working with kids for 40-plus years and is a full-time professor at William Jessup University.

7.       Dale Says… This app allows you to transfer up to 2 GB of data for free; it's great for sending large files to other people.

-Dale Hudson is director of children's ministries at Christ Fellowship Church in Palm Beach, Florida.
